24 Nov Bring on my call recorder!
A sex worker tells a story of entrapment by the police and resisting both the arrest and the subsequent attempt for a bribe in money and sexual ‘favours’ through recording the conversations between him, his client and the police with his mobile phone. He plays back the recording to the police who then let them both go. In June 2014, nine male and transgender sex workers gathered in Cape Town to participate in the digital story-telling workshop. Participants explore how the criminalisation of sex work, the stigma attached to the profession and the high levels of violence in South Africa affect their daily lives.
Created in partnership with Sex Workers Education and Advocacy Task Force (SWEAT) and Sonke Gender Justice, South Africa, June 2014.
