Seneth’s story is about him growing up as a child and feeling discriminated against by his family, friends and society because he wanted to be a boy. He describes his feelings through this video and how he didn’t feel comfortable in his own body. He recalls an incident of being beaten by a group on the street and talks about how he couldn’t seek redress from the police or the hospital because he couldn’t explain his identity. Despite this Seneth says that he feels stronger today than he did before. (Please note this digital story is in Sinhalese). This story was made at a workshop hosted in July 2017 at CENWOR in Colombo hosted by Women and Media Collective and APC. The workshop was entitled “Me, My Body, Rights in Digital”.
